What Information We Collect
When you use BookmarksBrain, we collect:
- Account info: Email, username, profile picture (optional)
- Your bookmarks: X posts, text, images, and metadata you choose to save
- Folders & tags: Names and organization you create
- Subscription info: Plan type, billing country (payment details are handled by DodoPayments, not us)
- Usage data: What features you use, when, from which browser/device
- Support emails: Messages you send to our team
Our Chrome Extension only reads X post content when you click "Save." It never accesses your X password, private messages, or background activity.
How We Use Your Data
- Store and organize your bookmarks
- Send transactional emails (welcome, receipts, password resets)
- Process AI tag suggestions on Pro plan (via OpenAI)
- Prevent fraud and keep the service secure
- Improve the product through usage analytics
- Comply with legal requirements (taxes, law enforcement)
AI Processing
Pro plan users can use AI tag suggestions powered by OpenAI. Only your bookmark text is sent to OpenAI — never your email or account details. OpenAI doesn't use API data to train their models. AI features are optional; Free plan users don't have this feature. Learn more at OpenAI's data usage policy.
Who We Share Data With
We use trusted services to run BookmarksBrain:
- Supabase: Database and authentication
- DodoPayments: Payment processing (we don't see your card details)
- OpenAI: AI tag suggestions (Pro plan only)
- Resend: Transactional emails
We never sell your data to anyone.
How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account & bookmarks: Until you delete them
- Payment/subscription info: 7 years (tax requirement)
- Support emails: 1 year
- Usage analytics: 1 year (then anonymized)
When you delete your account, we keep your data for 30 days so you can recover it, then permanently delete everything.
Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Get a copy of your data
- Correct: Fix inaccurate information
- Delete: Request we erase your data
- Export: Download your bookmarks as CSV or JSON (Pro plan)
- Opt out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime
- Complaint: Contact your local data protection authority
Email us at bookmarksbrain@gmail.com with the subject "Data Request" to exercise these rights. We'll respond within 30 days. You may need to verify your identity.
Security & Data Transfers
We protect your data with:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encrypted storage
- Limited team access
We are based in India. Our service providers are in the US and other countries. International data transfers follow GDPR safeguards.
Kids & This Service
BookmarksBrain is for users 16+. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 16. If a child's data reaches us, we'll delete it immediately. Contact us if you're concerned.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We'll email you about big changes and update the date below. Your continued use means you accept the new policy.
